Acerca de Enrique

Soy de España, vivo en Londres desde 2016. Empecé a tocar el bajo cuando tenía 18 años. Autodidacta la mayor parte del camino y un poco con una pequeña academia de música privada en la ciudad natal. Tuve la suerte de tener un buen grupo de amigos con quienes tocar. Tocamos funk & fusion (rock, bossa, jazz ...), esos estilos me abrieron una gran variedad de ritmos y métricas. Unos años más tarde comencé a trabajar como músico profesional en varias orquestas haciendo giras por todo el país. Fue una excelente oportunidad para seguir aprendiendo y tocando más estilos diferentes (latín: salsa, cha cha cha, samba, tumbao, etc ...). También toqué en un trío flamenco con 2 guitarristas que me introdujeron en las ricas armonías y ritmos que tiene el flamenco.
Después de más de 20 años tocando, todavía me apasiona el bajo y durante muchos años más.

¿Te interesa aprender técnicas de bajo, ritmo, composición, teoría y estilos musicales (desde Jazz, Rock, Blues y Funk hasta Pop, Latin, Flamenco, Fusion ...)? ¡ponte en contacto!

Después de establecer los conceptos básicos de la teoría, te guiaré para que toques los géneros musicales que te apasionan con múltiples herramientas para desarrollar tu propio estilo de interpretación.
Las lecciones regulares se tratan de 1 hora, a veces puede ser 1:30 si es necesario (mismo precio).
Todas las edades, todos los niveles.

He tocado el bajo eléctrico durante más de veinte años, de los cuales diez como músico profesional, cuatro como profesor en una escuela de música privada y 2 años de tutoría online.

My lesson with will has been an extremely satisfactory one. His great right hand technique (muting with the thumb) and knowledge about triads and chord tones is telling me that he will improve harmony and techniques fast. I'm looking forward to have more lessons with him!

¡Genial! Enrique has such an incredible understanding of harmony and theory it is fascinating! Very generous with his time, always very patient and ready to answer any of my questions. I feel my understanding of bass technique and theory has improved a huge amount since beginning our lessons!

He explains everything that he is teaching you in detail yet keeps it easy to absorb, and is exceedingly thorough in making sure you understand at a fundamental level how everything works and why it works. The explanation of both what (technique) and why (theory) really solidifies all of the information he is telling you.

Beni has a good level of commitment, which makes me feel very comfortable when we meet and excited to share my knowledge with him. He practices regularly and I see that his finger skills are improving quite a bit. The muscle memory is kicking in. I am looking forward to starting to take a more practical approach, playing chord progressions and exploring with him the possibilities of functional harmony, different styles and techniques.

It was a very good introductory lesson and I'm very happy with her attitude. We've seen Diatonic Triads, that's a lot to start with but factible as Yujiao has previous music theory knowledge and showed a nice dexterity to be a beginner with the instrument. I'm sure she will get a clean technique very soon if she practices regularly. Looking forward to do more lessons with her.

It has been a nice introductory lesson to get a proper idea of what areas we will see to help Marek to improve his playing techniques and musical theory knowledge. Hoping him to get a practicing routine to see improvement very soon. Looking forward the next lesson with him.

I'm happy with Ben's tutoring. He has previous knowledge of classical theory as he plays piano but also an eager eye learning electric bass so I'm avid to help him to improve his playing through Western Music theory and bass techniques.

Alexandra have got easily the concept of Triad starting in each of the seven degrees of the Diatonic modes. That it's an advantage studying Music theory and a good indicator that she will improve quickly if she practices regularly.

When did you first develop a passion for music and your favourite instrument?
My dad liked to put music at home on morning weekends at considerable volume.. He had an eclectic taste with a huge vinyl collection. For instance, I remember being a kid, waking up with the Four Seasons (Vivaldi), Bob Marley, Queen or AC/DC.
My passion about Bass was "love at first glance" once I tried it. When I was 18, R.H.C.P released Blood Sugar Sex Magic and Flea playing style captivated me. After that, digging deep about Bass, Marcus Miller, Jaco pastorius, Jeff Berlin, Jeff Andrews, and more to come....I couldn't stop.
Is there a particular type of music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?
Every music style has good stuff and I like to swap from one to another so my "loop" has variety enough to never get fed up. Now, when I'm obsessed with a theme, I can be listening for hours, days and months and never get tired.
Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.
I could think a couple of them, one related to different techniques I use and another only possible with a really good music theory foundation:"Jazz, advanced music theory"
What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?
All instruments are complicated to master but string ones have the advantage to easily transpose from one tonality to another, guess that could answer the question but let's say Piano. Combining two hands, huge polyphony, comping and soloing at the same time. Does it sound challenging?
What are your keys to success?
Hard work, perseverance, study and practice routine, being perfectionist, avoiding frustration and having a good time.
Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.
Allow me to say not three but four.
In a bar called "Heaven" I would enjoy having a drink, chatting and watching them playing together (would be the best experience!) to Miles Davis ( trumpeter ), Jaco Pastorius ( Bass player ), Paco de Lucia ( Spanish guitar player ) and Chick Corea ( Piano/keyboard player ). Four beasts which transformed and evolved music with their amazing feeling, virtuosity and creativity.
Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.
I just was in a private music academy for a short period as I've been self-taught most of the path so my advice for beginners is grab your bass ( or the instrument you play ) and experiment with it, spend time with it. Use your ears, have fun without rules until reaching the point of curiosity about how theory works. In this way, learning with someone, school or whatever option you choose, will be like walking on an enlightenment path.
So it was anecdotal how my colleagues at the academy used to get surprised about how fast I could get lines, walkins and grooves with the things we were taught.
What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?
According to my students: infectious passion. Patience and comprehension, Sense of humor and being able to explain things in more than one way until it becomes clear.
