Acerca de Oscar
I have been teaching guitar and violin for 6 years, since I began studying Music in Manchester, UK. In this time, I have taught a great many people from all ages and abilities. After moving from Manchester to Bristol in order to study for my MA, I set up a small group of instrumental teachers offering cheap classes for people with low incomes, in an attempt to make a positive impact on the community. These classes were well received by the students and gave them a chance to express themselves in a new way by playing an instrument.
Since arriving in Barcelona, I have been enjoying playing in ensembles a lot. I also want to keep teaching, as I find it to be a very rewarding experience. I currently have a three students each week, but my timetable is very flexible.
Throughout my teaching career so far, I have helped students to read music and prepare for performance exams at school. I also prioritise training the students' aural abilities with ear training, enabling them to analyse music in a new way as well as begin to try improvisation.

I'm Oscar, a BA and MA qualified music teacher. Originally from London, I have been living in Barcelona teaching and playing for two years. I teach classes for acoustic or electric guitar, from beginner to intermediate level. All ages are welcome! I either teach from my home in Barrio Gotico or I am happy to travel to you for classes.
Unlike many styles of learning that focus on more theoretical and notation-based approaches, I opt for a much more aural technique, focussing on training your ears and your memory to help you to be able to improvise along with music or transcribe your favourite songs to learn. In classes we will learn how to play chords and melodies along to the students' own choice of music. I also give the option of helping students create their own compositions and songs.
