Acerca de Joel
Having been surrounded by music from the moment I was born to musician parents, it's no surprise that I've explored a large array of genres both as a student and professionally. I've played cello for 15+ years, and my journey has led me to the principal cellist position in several orchestras internationally. I've studied music and been active as a cellist/composer in Sweden (Gotland School of Music Composition), Ireland (Dublin City University), and the United States (Berklee College of Music), and my varied experience covers classical, jazz, film music, pop, and other genres. I love making music together with others — whether it's on the concert stage or in a recording studio. Currently, I'm based in Madrid working as cellist, teacher, and also as a composer/orchestrator specializing in film and visual media. I recently relocated here from Los Angeles where I was doing music work in Hollywood. I'm passionate about passing along what I have learned, and excited to meet you and enjoy playing music together!

Whether you are a complete beginner or have some experience under your belt, I will do my very best to meet you at your level and tailor each lesson to your particular interests and goals. My aim is to provide you with the technical foundation needed to excel on the instrument/as a composer, while making sure to have fun and fostering your musical curiosity! I always strive to create an encouraging, open and safe learning environment by maintaining an open dialogue. In our first meeting I look forward to hearing what your interests and goals are, and then we'll start from there. Let's embark on this learning journey together!
