Acerca de Holly
I am a native English speaker with dual-citizenship (Germany/USA) who is looking for a position as an English teacher in Madrid. I am very interested in the English teaching position with you. I strongly identify with your mission of cross-cultural communication and language emersion. I am confident that I would make an excellent addition to your team because of my passion for student growth, my teaching and cultural experience, and my TEFL qualification.
I graduated in December 2018 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration and a concentration in Operations and Supply Chain Management with a GPA of 4.0/4.0. I completed my 120-hour TEFL certification in July 2018 where I developed a strong foundation in the different teaching methodologies that are effective in both classroom and one-on-one environments.
I have 3 years of experience as an ESL teacher to children (ages 5 to 10) and adults (ages 25 to 60) in a fast-paced teaching environment. In my role as Lead ESL Instructor at Catholic Charities of Atlanta, I discovered my passion for teaching. My position included working with a team of 16 individuals to develop academic goals for the program. I was also assigned to train new teachers. Additionally, I have two semesters of experience teaching mathematics to high school and elementary school children. While studying in Madrid for a semester in 2016, I gave private English lessons to college students and young children.

through my years of experience, I have mastered managing diverse personalities and varying student levels by tailoring activities to individual learning styles and teaching through building blocks to establish a strong foundation. I designed lessons (using Microsoft Office) to make learning fun and motivate students to become lifelong learners. I believe that creating an interactive, student-centred classroom maximizes “student talk time” where students can practice the concepts taught during lessons. I encourage group discussions and application of concepts beyond pure memorization.
The following are highlights of my skills and accomplishments from my experience teaching:
• I assessed student’s progression with benchmark tests throughout the term
• I communicated complex topics in an easily understandable fashion without sacrificing quality
• I successfully increased English grammar and vocabulary skills by 67% over 4-month term
I am passionate about sharing the English language with people of all ages. I have a strong interest in pursuing a teaching career because I find it to be very rewarding as the students grow in their use of the English language. With experience working at the elementary school, college, and adult levels, I have a diverse background with much to offer. I am a very organized, fast-learner with a positive attitude and a strong initiative. I perform well under pressure, value working in teams, and most importantly love teaching & challenging myself to always improve. I also have C1 knowledge of Spanish, and would be comfortable using Spanish as a secondary language of instruction if desired.
