Gerrit is an incredible musician and a talented teacher. It is clear that he dedicates many hours to his students, tailoring his lessons and teaching approach to their particular needs. I approached Gerrit with the desire to learn basic guitar to accompany my signing after I watched him perform jazz. He was friendly, easy to approach, and was not deterred by the fact that I was an absolute beginner and he was clearly an advanced guitar player. My preference in genre was also not jazz. Gerrit arrived to the first lesson fully prepared for what I had asked. He had a song carefully picked out for me based on my musical preference. In no time I was strumming along.
Despite my initial intention to learn a few easy songs, Gerrit's deep knowledge of the instrument is transmitted through in every lesson. By the end of my time getting taught with him, not only could I play songs way beyond the level that I had initially set out to learn, but I had also accumulated a love and understanding for the instrument.
I also had the privilege of watching a few of his other students perform at multiple events. Gerrit is always greeted with warmth and fondness and the performances are always of high calibre and versatile in genre.

I highly recommend Gerrit as a music teacher.
